This week, I have seen real people! Not just people who came to our door to deliver food and medicines…but friends who came out walking in the fresh air with me and the boys.
It has been amazing to see people without them being on a screen! Zoom and other online platforms have been great for some, but often draining for more introverted people like me. Remote relationships don’t carry the same warmth and care; there are just that, remote.
The past year has been hard for so many, the connections between loved ones and friends just haven’t been the same. In some ways this has brought about good, making us realise how precious our relationships are; in other ways it has caused or worsened many mental health problems.
Face to face time with those precious to me is worth more than material possessions or a million pounds. I hope that face to face contact in small groups will continue to happen.
Even more precious is hugs, but one step at a time!
